Back in 2020 when I finally published the first of my books in English, I was over excited! Full of joy an energy, I believed I could reach the stars and beyond! I opened my Instagram account to boost my online presence in order to reach more readers across the world, in almost two months I managed to get more than 2K followers and I thought the path I was following was the correct one! But it came out that, it wasn’t…

I’m leaving these notes here as a reminder for myself, as well as a testament to my efforts and my failures. What went wrong? Well multiple things.

Mostly due to financials problems I needed to leave behind the efforts and investments I was given to my new published book. My motivation got depleted, and the realization that the focus of my social media wasn’t the correct one either, complicated more the things.

I kept working in the shadows, at a slower pace, without much energy as before. Slowly, even hesitant I continued working on the translations, but with little to no time (nor money) for marketing. For these three years I looked back to that moment when I published my book in English realizing I wasn’t fully ready nor prepared to publish it. My book soon got lost in time and sank to the bottom.

Adnalia is a planet millions of light-years away from Earth. Almost twice its size, with two satellites or moons that orbit the planet in cycles of 25 hours. 

It is the home to fantastic and unimaginable creatures. It had three major ruling races before being discovered by humans from Earth or Earthlings in the year 2,224 A.D. These species where the Elves, Kratnajus, and Ruforitas. Each species with unique qualities. The mystical power of this planet defies human imagination; since magic is a reality.

Adnalia's ecosystems bear a striking resemblance to Earth's distant past, reminiscent of a time before the cataclysmic event known as the 'Great Catastrophe.' This calamity plunged the planet into darkness, triggering mass extinctions that persisted for decades, leaving an indelible mark on its history.  

Since its discovery by humans, Adnalia generated a deep sense of nostalgia due to the beauty and harmony that the Earth once possessed. It's a world divided into four vast continents, each one characterized by its own breathtaking landscapes and climates.

Al sur, las tundras árticas se extienden hasta donde alcanza la vista, una tierra helada y desafiante que pone a prueba incluso a los aventureros más valientes. En el norte, los bosques caducifolios florecen, recordando los antiguos bosques de la Tierra, donde los ritmos de la naturaleza permanecen inalterados. Sin embargo, es en la región central donde la verdadera diversidad de Adnalia brilla con fuerza. Aquí, los bosques de tipo mediterráneo se mezclan sin esfuerzo con sus homólogos caducifolios, creando un mosaico vibrante de colores y vida. Al sur de este continente central, cruzando el mar central se extiende un vasto desierto, cuyos paisajes áridos contrastan bruscamente con la exuberancia del norte, mientras inmensas praderas rodean esta extensión desértica. 

Separated from the rest, a continent bears witness to the forces that shaped Adnalia over the eras. Here, active volcanic chains sculpt the land, their fiery eruptions etching a testament to the planet's ongoing evolution.

Adnalia's diverse ecosystems invite exploration and discovery, offering a tapestry of landscapes and climates that evoke both awe and wonder. It's a world where the echoes of the past mingle with the promise of the future, a place where the mystical and the natural converge in harmony.

Interesting fact!

According to various studies conducted by humans since its discovery, in addition to local legends and the elven folklore, it is believed that the planet previously had the name of the ancient capital of the Elven Empire: Alfheim. However, at some point in its history, the name changed unanimously across all races, and started to being known in all ancient languages as Adnalia. In honor to the most important elven queen of all time according to the myth.

The story of the first novel of the saga "Alfheim, Veraldine's Quest" takes place primarily in the Eastern region of Adnalia, on the main continent. Although other regions are mentioned. The following map shows the main human capitals as well as the principal elven ruins.

Why Alfheim? Well, for all those who want to know where the series name came from, or what the meaning of Alfheim is, I’ll explain that below.

The word "Alfheim" has its roots in Norse mythology, where it is one of the nine realms hanging from the tree of life, Yggdrasil. Examples of other realms are "Asgard", which is the world of Gods such as Odin, Thor, Loki and more.

Those who like mythology, or who happen to be fans of certain comics, movies, and animes, are surely familiar with it), and “Midgard”, which is the world of mortals (or humans, as it were) and more. 

Alfheim itself is the world of the elves of light.

Are these books related to Norse mythology? 

The answer is: Yes! While the setting of the books is heavily influenced by mythology, there is one big difference; namely, Alfheim is a city, not a world or realm.

But enough with mythology, let's quickly discuss a summary of the books. The saga is considered epic fantasy, and is a mix of genres such as romance, action, and adventure that blend together in a unique world full of magic, fantastic creatures, and futuristic technology.

Brief background, prior the main story line…

The story begins 1,500 years in the future; however, the state of the world that our heroine finds herself in is the culmination of events that started many centuries before... In a distant future where humanity has overcome the trials and tribulations of space travel, humankind next finds itself vying for supremacy among the species of the universe, looking to conquer the infinite worlds and resources in front of them. One of their first discoveries was a planet very similar to Earth in terms of flora and fauna, named "Adnalia".

Humans were not only amazed by the planet's incredible beauty, but were fascinated to realize that the world of Adnalia was home to creatures that they used to believe were merely "fairy tales". Fantastic creatures lived freely in the world, with three species being dominant: the elves, the dragons, and the ruforitas. Soon, however, there would be a fourth...

After establishing a foothold on the planet, and although at the beginning they tried to coexist, the humans weren’t satisfied. They wanted more. Adnalia was to be considered a colony of Earth. The war began. Decades of bloodshed finally came to an end with the destruction of the elven cities, among them the magnificent capital of Alfheim, the crown jewel of the mighty elven empire. The extinction of the dragons, the last species that continued the fight against humans soon followed.

A new beginning... 

Much time has passed since that great war, and to the remaining elves freedom is but a faint and distant memory. Humans control almost every corner of the planet. The elven population is subjugated, confined to villages scattered around the mighty human cities, and every memory of their ancient civilization was prohibited.

It is in one these small elven villages that our heroine finds herself. A young elf named Veraldine is about to embark on a quest that she would never, ever would’ve imagined…
